We are the Champions!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE W....wait a minute...of Berks and Lancaster County!

The final was great. It was really intense, it went to overtime and we ended up winning 2-1. It was a pretty rough game. I think somebody stepped on or kicked my right arm. I never bruise, but today a red line down to about my showed up. Plus, there are four or five red circles that look very much like a foot print from cleats. Hmmm.. Anyway, it's pretty sore. My team ended up playing with 8 guys in the second half of the overtime, because two guys got sent off for decent(they were both being idiots) and the third guy who already had a yellow basically stomped on another players shin/ankle. It looked pretty bad. I don't know how hurt he was in the end, but he had to go off.

After the game though most of the players from both teams went to the clubhouse and had a few beers. Since the other team is run by the club, which is German, we had good beer: Spaten and Franziskaner! It was definitely a great day!

Holy crap, this is like something out of a SciFi movie...

I recently read an article about a weapon that Israel is working on creating. I tiny robot that can fly around, take photos and yes KILL!

This brings new meaning to "Killer Bees":

Israel developing anti-militant "bionic hornet"

When am I leaving??

A lot of people have been asking when I will be leaving to go back to Germany. Well, I'm not really sure as I have to go through the security stuff and atleast get it started. I do know however that I am going out the mid-west (Omaha and Idaho somewhere), for the last week of November and the first week of December. That's if I can get out of jury duty on the 6th of December.

I'll post when I'm going as soon as I know.

Things are never dull...

Things are never dull with me.

The company I work for now CSB-System International wants me to go to Germany again to work on a project at one of the biggest US military base over there, Ramstein. (no, not the band) They need an American citizen with security clearance, so that someone has access to our software system once it is installed. I'm the best candidate to do this, since I'm the only US citizen working for the company that is fluent in German. That means that I will have to get security clearance, although I don't know yet what type of clearance I will need. However it means they will being doing an extensive background check on me, and unfortunately that will probably include contacting friends, family and former employers that I have had contact with in at least the last 10 years. So, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I don't think it should be anything too serious. But, if you receive a call from some government official asking about me...

I'll be posting the progress here if you want to follow how it is going.

Woohoo! New Computer!

My new computer came today! I'm really excited! It's a dual core and 2nd from the top or the line. The top of the line was twice as much. :( I can't wait to set it up! I also have a set up with two monitors. Unfortunately, the memory didn't come with the rest of the shipment, so I can't get it up and running yet. But, I did set up the monitors with my old computer. It's not quite the same, but at least I can try the monitors. Hopefully, the memory will come soon!

Man, am I a computer nerd, or what?...

Site Feed

I've added site feed for my blog. You should see a link over on the right below my profile. I've also included links explaining what RSS/Atom Feeds are. There are a ton of readers out there. Personally I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email and a feed reader is included in the application. If you do a search on "rss feed readers for windows" or "rss feed readers for Mac" or "atom feed readers for windows" or "atom feed readers for Mac" you should find some good ones. You can also at rss/atom feeds in gmail as well as their new Google Reader Here's some help with gmail. How do I add custom feeds to 'Web Clips'? The new yahoo mail also has a built in reader. Lot's of possibilities

To get the address for the feed. Choose either ATOM or RSS. Then you can either right click on the link and copy the link, then paste in your reader, double click and a new window will open. You'll either get a bunch of code or an error, because your browser probably can't read it, but you want to copy the address that shows up in the address bar and paste it into your feed reader.

And of course if you have any questions or need some help comment here or email me and I'll do my best to help.

Finals Baby!

Saturday, my outdoor team(Berks United) had a game for the semi-finals, and we WON! 1-0 I still haven't scored a goal for this team, but I have one more chance since we are in the finals next Saturday! We play at a field outside of Reading that we share with another team called Evergreen. Actually it is their field. And they are the othe team in the final. So, we get to play at our home field since it is there's too. There isn't much point in trying to find a neutral field, we'll both have home field advantage this way. afterwards we are probably all going to the clubhouse afterwards. The field is owned by a German club called Evergreen Country Club So, they will have real beer!

Wish us luck, hopefully we can pull off a big win!

Lot's O'Coes

It's been a few weeks since Gen and Dan's wedding. I think everyone has fully recovered... I hope. ;)

It was a bit wet and cold and a few people a little role down the hill, but I think everyone had a great time. I think someone recommended that the tuxes should come with cleats instead of the plastic shoes.

After the reception everyone ended up going back to the hotel bar and had a great time too. I think the best quote was from the band in the bar. "That wedding party is RIPPED!" It's amazing I think we were all fine until we got to the bar. Then it went down hill from there. Fast!
I think Dan will be putting up more pics on there website so everyone can see the festivities.

Important Stuff

Enough about politics. Let's talk about some important stuff.

After Witmer's Garage in Ephrata ruined my jetta. I finally decided it was time to part. I kept having problems with it and was tired of repairing it. So, I decided to get a new car. I was looking at the new Jetta GLI, but decided that it was too much car and well too much payment for me. I ended up getting a Golf GTI instead. I'll have to put up a picture of mine later. It's silver, and dangerous. In the first weekend that I had it I already got pulled over. :( I told the cop that I just bought the car 2 days ago and he let me off! Well sort of he didn't give me a speeding ticket just ticket for not obeying traffic signs. So, no points...just have to pay some $$$.

Well, I'm going to have to finish with the important stuff a bit later. I have to run...

Guess I Started Something......

So, it looks like I already received some backlash since I forwarded the letter from Michael Moore letter to a lot of people. In fact I don't actually agree with everything he says, but hopefully it will help get people out to vote. Here's a short response to some of the comments.

" the only real win would be if there were enough people who have never before been politicians had decided to run for office AND they then actually got elected, otherwise we are stuck with all the same crooks who are simply robbing you out of your left pocket or your right pocket (depending on which way you vote). "

"I think I speak for most of America when I say "I am fed up with them all, throws the bums out, all of them....and....let's just mind our own business,...
"

I agree, one side is as bad as the other, but by not doing anything we are letting them take more than what's just in our pockets. We can't run away from it, or expect that the problem will fix itself. Only by people being active in the process can any changes be made....currently our government plans on "staying the course". That essentially means we aren't going to mind our own business we are going to continue to interfere and force our opinions on others. That in itself compromises the safety of US citizens at home and around the world. Furthermore, the current stance of our government has alienated us from many other countries and the fact of the matter is we are so intertwined internationally that this will affect our economics as well as many other areas of our lives that may not be so obvious.

Ok enough politics...

ROCK the VOTE!

November 7 is the big day! Election Day, from sea to shining sea. We only get one day to have a say on who runs the country, so let’s make it count—big time.
We know from the polls to expect higher youth turnout than in any off-year election of the last generation. But that only matters if we show up. By taking five simple steps, we can make sure that our votes count:

1. VOTE:

Find your polling place
.

2. Get our friends to vote:
Give them a nudge by inviting them to join our group
.

3. Get vocal:
Speak our minds on the wall — or make video statements and share them with our friends.

4. Video the Vote:
Take cameras to the polls, and then share pics and vids with the world.

5. Follow the returns:
Keep the TV or radio locked into the news until our votes get tallied.

Remember: together, we will Rock the Vote.

See you at the polls,
Hans Riemer, the Rock the Vote team and PHRESHPHUNK- Philly Arts and Culture
